12-28-03: I gave myself a new laptop for the new year. Right now I'm testing out editing my website through my wireless network using Dreamweaver and WinSCP.
12-12-03: Do you live in Massachusetts and ever thought of
installing solar panels on your roof to help with the cost of your
electric bill? See my new page on
Solar Power in MA.
12-09-03: Every time President Bush goes to give a speech I half
expect him to stumble, fall, and bang his chin getting up to the podium.
I wonder, in what situation(s) can the President "hold his own"? If he
had to hold a debate on live television, and could pick whatever topic he
felt the strongest with, what topic would that be? You can't think of
anything, can you? I didn't think so.
12-04-03: Stacie and I spent Thanksgiving in Corvallis, Oregon with
our friends
Mandi
and
Mike.
It was awesome. We went to
Powells, saw the
Pacific
Ocean, ate lots of Turkey (those of us who eat meat, anyway), and
beat LOTR Return of the King for gamecube.
11-21-03: I wrote a letter in response to the Wang Center's
decision to not host Boston Ballet's Nutcracker in 2004. Read the letter
and the responses
here.
11-20-03:
Rasta
Thomas has become a principal dancer for the
Dance Theatre
of Harlem. Click
here to see DTH's touring schedule. I've seen Rasta
perform a couple of times, and believe me, you don't want to miss this.
11-17-03: This
is an interesting bit of news from
Lord of the Ka-Ching, which
appeared today on
boston.com.
According to The New York Times, New Line Cinema's 300-plus
international
licensing agreements alone recouped the movie trilogy's $300 million price
tag months before the first film even hit the multiplex.
And here I was worried that if I didn't buy a plush Gollum, the movies
would be a failure.
11-6-03: Yesterday President Bush signed the Partial-Birth Abortion
Ban
and was quoted as saying:
This right to life cannot be granted
or denied by government because it does not come from government. It comes
from the creator of life.
I guess that means he'll be getting rid of the death penalty any day now.
11-2-03: Last evening
Stacie
and
I saw
Jennifer Gelfand's farewell
performance from Boston Ballet as she danced the lead in Nureyev's
Don
Quixote. Someday I'll be telling my grandkids how I was there.
10-17-03: The
School at Steps is looking for male dance partners to
participate in their upcoming partnering workshops. They're offering open
classes in exchange. If you have partnering experience and are over 18, I
encourage you to contact them.
10-17-03: A new link to check out:
The Bijou Cinema. From their website:
The Bijou is the only
independent movie theater in central Massachusetts featuring alternative
and foreign films, as well as classic motion pictures that you never
thought you'd see on the big screen again. Our goal, in addition to
providing the best selection of film and food available, is to provide a
cultural meeting venue for clubs, organizations, and events that would
otherwise have no place to meet.
10-16-03: Check out The Froo
Froo on
GrendelTheDog.com.
Grendel's
owners
are 'connected' down there in Washington, DC - and they
have all the insight to make you laugh (or cry).
10-08-03: With the ALCS beginning this evening between the Red Sox
and
the
Yankees, I'll pass on a few intuitive words from the Telegram and
Gazette:
Baseball aside, Boston has better seafood than New York.
Boston is the capital of its state. Boston's streets have real names, like
"Tremont" and "Beacon," not numbers and letters. Boston threw the British
out of town at the start of the Revolutionary War, while New Yorkers
cozied up to the redcoats.
10-02-03: Thanks to
lemure.net for taking over the hosting of my website
(and
Chuck,
lemure's webmaster).
If you can read this, then the nameservers have been successfully
transfered over.
09-30-03: I've recently joined the
Union of Concerned Scientists. I'm especially
interested in
EnergyNet.
09-11-03: I can't decide which I want more: a
GEM or a
Segway.
09-08-03: Stacie and I went to the
Brimfield Flea Market yesterday. The parking lady commented that lots of people must be using the ATM's since everyone had been paying her with $20's. I told her how the first two ATM's I visited were empty that morning, and she said "ATM's run out of money? I never used one, but I guess that they are like vending machines, huh?" Welcome to Brimfield.
09-05-03: "Recent polls show that nearly two-third of voters do not
know
the name of even one of the eight candidates who took the stage tonight." - The Washington Post about yesterday's Democratic Debate
09-04-03: DamnGoodWine.com is a wine website that my friend Anthony is involved with. It's a pretty good site - not pretentious, but lots of fun. Of course, my company's internet filter blocks it so I can't read it from my desk at work, but oh well.
08-29-03: Stacie and I are going to the Red Sox vs. Yankees game at
Fenway Park today. The Sox are 4.5 games behind the Yankees for the AL East, and have half a game lead in the AL Wild Card. I got the tickets from
www.BuySellTix.com.
08-15-03: Interested in theatre in central Massachusetts? Check
out
New England Theater 411 for information on performances, auditions, and job opportunities.
08-13-03: Two weekends ago I camped in the White Mountains of New
Hampshire with my dad. I remember he said he picked the campsite because it had hot showers. Last weekend Stacie and I stayed at a hostil in New York City - it was like urban camping - a place to lay your head and hot showers in the morning.
08-08-03: Open dance classes ROCK!! Here are two of the best
places to
drop into a dance class:
Boston Ballet and
Steps of NYC. Both offer lessons from beginner through advanced. Boston Ballet stays with ballet, where they teach the Russian school. Steps covers everything from ballet, tap, and jazz, to performance lessons, street dancing, yoga, etc. Click on the links to see the current schedules.
08-07-03: Whenever a politician or political candidate can be
recognized
by only their first name, it means something special: Jack, Ted, Bobby . . . Arnold.
07-31-2003: Interested in taking dance classes in central
Massachusetts?
Check out

07-25-2003: Transformations is WPI's alumni magazine. The summer
'03
issue was just released, and profiles 6 recent graduates, including myself. Click the link to see the article.

07-17-2003: I tried to get permission from Dilbert.com to display a
single frame of a Dilbert strip on my website - but was told that I'd have to have the entire strip displayed, and that I'd have to pay to use it. The amount was supposed to be based on the amount of visitors to my website and the length of time it was going to be displayed. I think I'll just buy it on a coffee mug instead.
07-17-2003: New website created . . .
